Nuevos renders revelan un cambio en el diseño de la Torre 2 del World Trade Center

Hace unas semanas se ha desvelado finalmente el nuevo proyecto de la Torre 2 del WTC de Norman Foster, después de algo más de 17 años que comenzaron los trabajos de excavación y cimentación; y después del proyecto orginal de la misma firma, y un proyecto desechado en 2015 del Estudio BIG.

Con esta nueva torre se enfatizan las líneas verticales como en el proyecto original de Foster, aglutinando varios volúmenes apilados; y fragmentados por espacios verdes; muy propio de Foster en los edificios en altura desde los años 80.

Este edificio albergará la sede de la News Corporation y la 21st Century Fox.

Nuevo mirador del Chrysler Building

Norman Foster’s 425 Park Avenue Officially Tops Out 897 Feet Atop Midtown East, Manhattan

425 Park Avenue held its official topping-out ceremony on December 4, 2018. Its architect Lord Norman Foster, head of Foster + Partners, along with several keynote speakers including David Levinson of L&L Holding Company LLC and Masaoki Kanematsu of Tokyu Land Corporation spoke at the reception, held on the 20th floor of the the building’s first and largest tiered setback. The 41-story, 897-foot tall building is the 17th-tallest building under construction in New York City, and has grown out of the old remains of the original structure that formerly stood on site. The un-demolished section is being repurposed as part of Midtown’s first new full-block office skyscraper in over 50 years. The tower is being developed by L&L Holding Company LLC while Adamson Associates is the architect of record.

The new FAO Schwarz is officially open! Here are 9 things to do inside

We've been crossing days off our calendars, waiting for the moment when FAO Schwarz promises we'll "return to wonder." Well NYC, wonder no more because the anticipation is over.

Today, the beloved toy store opened the doors to its new permanent home at 30 Rock, and the endless stacks of empty red shopping bags aren't going to fill themselves. The palpable void that came with FAO's Fifth Ave closure in 2015—and the subsequent demise of Toys “R” Us earlier this year—was difficult to bear, but we can all rest assured that there will still be a place for New Yorkers to go when they need a teddy...and then some. 

From stuffed animals and board games to dolls and STEM products, FAO's selection is nothing short of generous. All interests will find something that strikes their fancy, but perhaps what's so lovable about the store is the extra step it takes to make the experience interactive.

3 World Trade Center Tops Out This Morning

Designed by architect Richard Rogers of the London-based firm Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, 3 World Trade Center will encompass 2.8 million square feet of rentable space. There will also be 150,000 square feet of retail across five stories.

Dos nuevas torres residenciales para el cielo de Nueva York

Nueva York, la ciudad de los rascacielos, espera sumar un nuevo proyecto residencial de altura a principios de 2017. Dos torres asimétricas bañadas en cobre que han sido diseñadas por SHoP Architects y que están siendo levantadas por JDS Construction Group en la Primera Avenida, entre las calles 35 y 36.

BIG's 2 World Trade Center stalls sfter Fox withdraws

Two major tenants, 21st Century Fox and News Corp have pulled plans to relocate to the BIG-designed 2 World Trade Center - the final building planned for the 16 acre site. 2 WTC was unveiled last summer after news broke that BIG would be replacing Foster + Partners as the building's architect. According to a report on The Wall Street Journal, the two media companies based their decision on the high cost of relocating; they plan to stay in their current Midtown site until at least 2025.

WTC Oculus will open the first week in March

Sure, the news was all but confirmed, but today the Port Authority made it official: The transit org announced that the World Trade Center Transportation Hub—anchored by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava's Oculus—will officially open in "the first week of March," per a press release.

Nueva Torre 2 del World Trade Center

Bjarke Ingels, el arquitecto encargado del proyecto, acaba de hacer público el diseño y las características de la segunda torre del nuevo World Trade Center, según ha recogido Wired. Será algo más baja que One World Trade Center

Creo que se tratará de un rascacielos muy "neoyorkino", en el sentido de recuperar el espacio de las cubiertas como "rooftops ajardinados" (los cuales existen en muchos edificios de NY), incorpora letreros luminosos con noticias (al estio de Times Square) y la "escala" de los volúmenes, toma la arquitectura industrial y de los edificios existentes en esta zona del Bajo Manhattan.

En 2016 se inaugurará Centro de Ciencias diseñado por Renzo Piano en la Universidad de Columbia

Diseñado por SOM y Renzo Piano Building Workshop, la construcción de la primera fase de la ampliación del Campus Manhattanville de la Universidad de Columbia comienza a tomar forma: se acerca la culminación del Centro de Ciencias Jerome L. Greene -con certificación LEED platinum-, cuya apertura está programada para otoño de 2016.

One World Trade Center opens in New York

The first tenant has moved into the One World Trade Center, marking the official opening of the (arguably) tallest building in the Western hemisphere 13 years after the tragedy of 9/11. The “extraordinary moment was passed in the most ordinary of ways,” described the New York Times, as employees of Conde Nast entered into the white marble lobby (taken from the same quarry that produced marble for the original twin towers) and headed straight to the elevators to start their work day.

Over the years the 104-story, 1776-foot tall skyscraper designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) has been the center of a number of public squabbles. The latest, a debate over whether or not the $3.9 billion structure’s 408-foot spire should count towards its overall, patriotic 1776-foot height.
